CELEBES : (Witraz x Canaria by Trypolis) Pedigree

Bay stallion born in 1949 at Albigowa Stud (Poland).
The most valuable son of the great WITRAZ.
Sold in 1953 to the Swiss Circus Knie, he stood 14 years there with other Witraz sons, making a group of very similar horses.
CELEBES was first used at Michalow Stud (1967-1968), then at Janow Podlaski Stud until his death.
He sired 90 foals in Poland, among them 46 fillies.
CELEBES was never raced, but he would probably have a great ability to do this.
His full brother, KARMIN, raced 17 times with 6 wins and 8 places.
When bred to good racing mares, he was known as the sire of good racers.

CELEBES sired 16 very good stallions. Five of them were used in the Polish breeding :

MELON (1969), exported to USA,
ETAP (1971), sire of SET, 1982 Polish Reserve National Champion Stallion,
ALGOMEJ (bay - 1973), chief sire in Poland and Sweden, 1982 Swedish Reserve National Champion Stallion and 1985 Polish Reserve National Champion Stallion, exported to USA at Canterbury Farm. Our friend Marsha Parkinson give us regularly news about him. ALGOMEJ is 30 years old now and always dashing.

ALOES (1973), 1982 Polish National Champion Stallion, sold for 395 000 $ to USA at the 1987 Polish Prestige Sale,
PEPI (1975), Best in Show in Denmark when on lease to Blommeröd in Sweden, 1989 chief sire at Janow Podlaski and exported to USA in 1989.

CELEBES was the sire of 44 valuable broodmares, including 4 Polish National Champion Mares :

ELEWACJA (1970), 1979 Polish National Champion Mare,
MITRA (1969), 1980 Polish Reserve Champion Mare,
EKSTAZA (1969), 1981 Polish National Champion Mare,
ALGERIA (1971), 1982 Polish National Champion Mare,
BANDAMA (1970, out of Bandola by Witraz), was sold 650.000 $ at the 1985 Scottsdale Polish Ovation Sale.
There are no more CELEBES daughters at Janow Podlaski Stud, ELSINOE (1974) and ALGERIA were the last two.
